SUSTAINABILITY

One of our core aims is to reduce our impact on the environment.

We aren't going to pretend we're perfect because we're not. However, we are doing everything we can to be the best we can be.

Here's what we're doing:

  • All our packaging is fully recyclable.

  • All our printed material is independently FSC certified.

  • Our recipe book is produced in the UK from sustainably sourced, independently certified FSC paper and is carbon balanced. It is printed using a low-energy LED drying press, which consumes about 30% less energy than a conventional litho press.

  • Where possible, we work with local suppliers.

  • Our spices are organic when they can be and our ambition is to be 100% organic.

At the moment, we aren't great at the following:

  • Our tins are made in China. They are shipped by boat to reduce emissions, and we are looking for a UK-based manufacturer.

  • All our spices are commonly used in Indian cooking, but we source our spices from around the globe. This means that you will get the best spices possible. For example, although cardamom is a classic Indian spice, Guatemala produces some of the best cardamom in the world.

We'll keep you updated on our progress in our newsletter The Spice Times and here on this page. So check back for updates.
